Advanced Impact Environmental has been awarded up to $20,000 in technical assistance from the NMSBA Program at Sandia National Labs

Gallup, NM – The UNM-Gallup Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Greater Gallup Economic Development Corporation (GGEDC) today announced that Sandia National Laboratories has awarded  up to $20,000 in technical assistance to Advanced Impact Environmental, a Gallup, NM-based business, under the New Mexico Small Business Assistance Program to advance their work in UXO – unexploded ordnance.

“Advanced Impact CEO Craig Morris and his partner Amanda Gomez have been marketing their environmental remediation company with local, state, tribal and federal governments especially in areas contaminated with military munitions, making them safe for Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and other uses,” said Cyndi Jarvison, UNM-Gallup SBDC Director. “The  technical assistance awarded to Advanced Impact Environmental speaks to the SBDC motto of Building New Mexico’s Economy One Business at a Time”.

Advanced Impact Environmental currently has a patent pending on an Advanced Ordnance Remediation System, designed to eliminate the need for multiple personnel using metal detectors and shovels to detect and locate unexploded ordnance. With the government’s R&D program in recent years averaging more than $2 billion, Morris and Gomez have their sights set on growing their Sandia National Labs work to obtain a larger piece of that pie while advancing their unique approach to unexploded ordnance disposal.

Advanced Impact Environmental was introduced to Sandia National Laboratories and made aware of the NM Small Business Assistance Program through a forum organized by Greater Gallup Economic Development Corporation (GGEDC) and attended by the UNM-Gallup SBDC, as part of a focused and collaborative effort to increase tech transfers into McKinley County to spur economic development by leveraging the resources and expertise of the two federal research laboratories located in New Mexico – Los Alamos and Sandia national labs.

“It is the mission of the GGEDC to drive economic growth through strategic partnering,” said Patty Lundstrom, GGEDC Executive Director. “Our work with the UNM-Gallup SBDC and Sandia National Labs is critical and when we our partnerships are successful, local businesses in McKinley County like Advanced Impact Environmental stand to benefit.”
