Electric

Within the City of Gallup, electric services are provided by the City itself.  The current City of Gallup code provides the flexibility to negotiate a contract rate that is custom-fit to the electrical requirements of new customers with anticipated load exceeding 1,500 kW or existing customers who are adding load that will result in a total of 1,500 kW.  Further, the City can provide an economic development incentive rate with a time of use component to new customers with an anticipated load exceeding 500 kW. Within McKinley County outside the City of Gallup electric utility services are provided by Continental Divide Electric.

Gas

NM Gas Company provides natural gas service for McKinley County. For specific rate information, please call 505.863.3857.

Telecommunications

McKinley County has high-tech and high-speed telecommunications in place for businesses. Major providers include Century Link, Comcast, Sacred Wind, and Frontier Communications.


Transportation

Interstate 40 connects McKinley County to both coasts of the United States. I - 40 is the third-longest major east-west Interstate Highway in the United States. I-40 intersects with eight of the 10 primary north-south interstates. For example, Interstate 25 is accessible two hours east at Albuquerque and extends to both the Mexican and Canadian borders.

TransCon Rail

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad’s South TransCon track connects McKinley County to the Pacific Ocean oriented - Port of Long Beach and the Gulf of Mexico oriented - Port of Houston, as well as ports of entry at the Mexican and Canadian borders. BNSF operates a major rail yard in downtown Gallup.


Amtrak

Amtrak offers passenger rail service for McKinley County, providing east-bound service to Chicago, IL and west-bound service to Los Angeles, CA.


Air

Local: Gallup Municipal Airport

The Gallup Municipal Airport, a general aviation airport, is owned and operated by the City of Gallup. The services provided include a Fixed Base Operator (FBO) Gallup Flying Service, Federal Express, Gallup Med Flight, Budget Car Rental, and the Civil Air Patrol (CAP).
