Allison Rd Solar Park Now Producing Power - Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
July 20, 2018
The City of Gallup will be celebrating its 9.8 megawatt solar park with a ribbon cutting ceremony on site at 10:00 a.m. on July 17, 2018.
Gallup Mayor Jackie McKinney and the City Council approved a 25 year power purchase agreement December 13, 2016 to get the project started. The single-axis tracker array includes 28,896, 340 watt photovoltaic solar modules. Allison Rd Solar Park is located on approximately 35 acres of City-owned property located south of I-40, between Allison Road and Munoz Overpass (Hwy NM-602). The City will save roughly $20,000 the first year of operation over power purchased from our electrical provider, and will save approximately $785,000 by the end of the eighth year of operation. This environmental friendly project will generate enough electricity to power 2,500 homes and offset production of 3,500,000 pounds of carbon dioxide annually.
Standard Solar a leading solar energy company specializing in the development and financing of solar electric systems nationwide, financed the project. Mangan Renewables, a division of Mangan Inc., which provides renewable energy solutions for customers nationwide, developed the project in partnership with Wiser Capital and their proprietary underwriting platform. Standard Solar will own and operate the solar array. Construction is complete and the array is operating and producing power.
