Statement by House Appropriations Chair Rep. Patricia Lundstrom on Today’s State Revenue Forecast
September 30, 2020
Santa Fe, N.M. –Representative and Chairwoman of the House Appropriations and Finance Committee Patricia Lundstrom (D-Gallup) released the following statement regarding today’s Legislative Finance Committee (LFC) revenue forecast for the state of New Mexico.
“While the forecast today was better than expected, we must move forward with caution,” said Representative and Chairwoman of the House Appropriations and Finance Committee Patricia Lundstrom (D-Gallup). “Uncertainty driven by volatile oil and gas prices, unknown future federal stimulus funding, and a pandemic that continues to depress consumer confidence is making it impossible to forecast where our state will be when the Legislature meets in January. What is clear is that the recovery is not distributed equally. Hardworking New Mexicans on the frontlines of this pandemic are struggling significantly more than those at the top. It is critical that state government continue to support New Mexicans, ensure their health and safety, double-down on our work to diversify our economy, and not stop until every New Mexican has the opportunity to support themselves and their families.”
