Greater Gallup Economic Development Corporation and BNSF Railway will participate in this milestone construction groundbreaking
(Gallup, NM) – On October 17, 2016, Gallup Land Partners, LLC will join with the Greater Gallup Economic Development Corporation along with Gallup-McKinley County officials, local and state partners, and members of the Gallup community to celebrate a groundbreaking ceremony for construction of the rail terminal for the Gallup Energy Logistics Park, LLC. The $4,000,000.00 facility, which is expected to commence operations in 2017, will provide businesses located in the 2,500-acre master planned Gallup Energy Logistics Park, LLC premier shipping logistics services by supporting the reliable and efficient shift of long-haul freight from highway to rail, while strengthening the region’s transportation infrastructure and driving the region’s economy.
“Gallup Land Partners, LLC is making an investment in Gallup-McKinley County that will transform an industrial space into a modern, state-of-the-art facility,” said Robert Roche, President of Roche Enterprises, LTD., the company that owns Gallup Land Partners, LLC. “None of this would be possible without the vision, dedication, and commitment of our many partners in this project, including the Greater Gallup Economic Development Corporation, McKinley County, City of Gallup, and the state of New Mexico.” Construction for the terminal will begin in November, 2016 with initial activity focused on clearing the site to prepare for major construction, and a target completion date of January, 2017.
Representatives from GGEDC, McKinley County, and city of Gallup recognize the positive impact of the facility and will be on hand at the groundbreaking celebration. “We are excited to have Gallup Land Partners make this investment in the community. We know the importance of rail in our region, and the start of this work emphasizes exactly that,” said GGEDC Board President Tommy Haws. “This terminal will not only help connect McKinley County’s businesses to the global marketplace, but it will also help stimulate the Gallup-McKinley County economy. We are proud to have worked with all of the stakeholders to make this project a reality.”

“We are pleased to welcome Gallup Land Partners,” added Gallup Mayor Jackie McKinney. “The city of Gallup has a long history with the railroad, and we are excited to begin the next chapter.” Since the site of facility was announced in 2014, the project has received broad-based support from local, county, state and federal levels officials, economic development associations, community organizations and other stakeholders.
The rail terminal, designed by Engineered Rail Solutions, LLC of Illinois, features a design that will set a new standard in rail terminal design. The rail site plan proposes for 11,000 feet of linear rail.
