Independent creators who posted their music, videos, art, crafts and other works online added nearly $37 million to New Mexico’s economy in 2016, a new study found.
The report released by the Re:Create Coalition found that a booming online creative economy helped 14.8 million Americans earn about $5.9 billion in income on nine major internet creative platforms alone.
New Mexico is home to 105,423 of those creators, part of the state’s $5.6 billion arts industry. The Land of Enchantment didn't place in the top or bottom five states for earnings from the online creative economy.
