Gallup/McKinley Regional Inland Tradeport Potential Will Increase with Foreign Trade Zone & User Fee Airport Designation
October 7, 2025
The value proposition for a Gallup/McKinley Regional Inland TradePort is built on several key foundations, including the establishment of a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) and a User Fee Airport (UFA) designation. In 2024, the Greater Gallup Economic Development Corporation (GGEDC) provided technical support to McKinley County and the City of Gallup in their efforts to secure FTZ status and U.S. Customs UFA certification for the Gallup Municipal Airport. A planned remodel of the airport includes dedicated renovations to meet U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements, including the development of appropriate facilities and office space for a stationed CBP officer to support FTZ operations.
Gallup Municipal Airport can bolster TradePort potential
