Gallup, NM, Focuses on Foreign Trade Zone & User Fee Airport Designation in 2025
November 4, 2025
One of the key 2025 initiatives for economic development in the Greater Gallup region is securing Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) and User Fee Airport (UFA) designations for the Gallup Municipal Airport. These designations are intended to strengthen the region’s logistics infrastructure and attract international trade and investment. A planned remodel of the airport includes renovations to meet U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements, including dedicated facilities and office space for a CBP officer to support FTZ operations in Gallup.
Gallup Municipal Airport can bolster TradePort potential
The FTZ/UFA designation is a critical step toward an associated US Customs & Border Protection Officer to be stationed in Gallup to clear international cargo and passengers for U.S. imports/exports. 2025 plans by GGEDC to further the effort include hosting additional roundtables and other collaborative efforts.
