State Launching ISO 9000 Certification Classes for Businesses

    July 11, 2013

Albuquerque Business First   |   Dan Mayfield

Beginning in September, the New Mexico Economic Development Department and the New Mexico Manufacturing Extension Partnership will offer ISO 9000 certification classes.

The new program, the New Mexico 9000, was created by the EDD to provide training over three to six months for companies that are looking to get the certification. ISO 9000 standards are accepted in 178 countries and the certification is required by the U.S. Department of Defense, NASA and the National Nuclear Security Administration, as well as Intel Corp., for contractors or suppliers.

“This program will help New Mexico companies become more competitive both locally and internationally which will lead to increased revenues and job growth,” said Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela on Wednesday. “The program also provides a system for companies to use in building more efficient business procedures.”

Cost for the program varies based on a company’s annual revenue.
