Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services in Gallup said Wednesday it has accepted a proposal from the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center and a Texas firm to operate its 69-bed hospital as a joint venture.
The next step in the process is to enter a letter of intent with UNM HSC and LHP Hospital Group Inc. of Plano, Texas, said Rehoboth spokeswoman Ina Burmeister.
LHP is a five-year-old privately held company that specializes in forming joint ventures with not-for-profit hospitals. It has six joint ventures with hospitals in Florida, Texas, New Jersey and Idaho, said LHP Senior Vice President of Strategic Development Patricia Ball.
The proposed plan would result in Rehoboth being owned and operated by a joint venture between UNMHSC, Rehoboth and LHP, Burmeister said.
